Winners revealed: 2023 Australian Interior Design Awards

Individuality, boldness and understated elegance were strong themes among the winners of the 2023 Australian Interior Design Awards, announced on 2 June.

“Projects […] also displayed sensitivity and a modesty that speaks to a revitalized sense of confidence,” said the jury. “This is a year where design was truly celebrated through projects, relationships and collaborations that were treated with a renewed lust for life.”

The jury unanimously awarded the Premier Award for Australian Interior Design to Campbell House by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, which also won the awards for Workplace Design and Sustainability Advancement.

“It is timeless, elegant, unified and finely detailed and could very much work as a universal application – it could be a home, it could be a retail store, it could be a workplace,” said the jury.

The 2023 jury comprised: Melissa Bright (Studio Bright); Jeremy Bull (Alexander and Co); Maria Danos (Maria Danos Architecture); Brian Donovan (BVN); Georgie Shepherd (Georgie Shepherd Interior Design) and Aaron Wooster (formerly Smart Design Studio), with Stuart Krelle (Luchetti Krelle) and Rosie Morley (Fender Katsalidis) returning as jury chairs. The jury convenor was Geraldine Maher (Maher Design), and the sustainability advisor was John Gertsakis (Product Stewardship Center of Excellence).
