TV presenter Jonnie Irwin has shared a major house update amid his renovation projects.
The A Place in the Sun host, 49, has been making the most of family time and making his living space as comfortable as possible following his terminal cancer diagnosis.
Jonnie – who shares three young sons with wife Jess – lives in Newcastle and has been keeping his followers updated while transforming his home.
And if anyone knows about property, it’s this guy!
Sharing photos with his fans, Jonnie showcased a gorgeous living space which was previously ‘unused’.
Now with fresh life breathed into it, the room has huge windows with a dreamy view out onto the garden.
Jonnie has also added a stove and super stylish furnishings, including a mustard sofa, glass coffee table, and leather armchair.
There’s also a bar cart in the corner and, with a wine glass on the table, it looks like that’s already being appreciated.
Jonnie wrote in his caption that ‘phase 1’ is now complete, suggesting he has even bigger plans for his home.
‘Previously a cold, virtually unused part of the house has been transformed whilst keeping with the original 60’s character’, he wrote.
‘The main difference has been to punch through the south facing wall and create an enormous view onto the garden via a bespoke @alunag_aluminiumsupplier window.
‘This idea rightfully had its doubters but I think the gamble has paid off. Replacement windows and sliding doors match the design and profiles which is key.
‘The stove in the corner even makes this large room cozy in the cold weather so thanks to @northumberlandstoves for your advice on this.’
He concluded: ‘I’m really happy with the end result and even think Don Draper would approve!’
Jonnie’s followers were also loving the renovations.
‘Wow..The windows looks like art…Looks like a painting…’, one complimented.
‘It’s lovely Jonnie! sending best wishes to you – can only imagine how tough things are right now – you will always be the BEST homes presenter ever!!!’, another said.
Jonnie revealed his devastating health news last November after being told he could have months to live as a tumor in his lung had spread to his brain.
He has since said that doctors ‘didn’t expect’ him to live until 2023.
However, his children – Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac – remain unaware of his illness.
Jonnie previously said he didn’t want to ‘confuse’ the boys.
‘I keep being asked, “Are you going to tell them?” but tell them what?’, he said.
‘It would be horrible news that they’d have to get their heads around. And it would confuse the hell out of Rex – he’s got quite a shocking day coming. Let’s bury our heads in the sand for as long as possible.’
He has been having some tough conversations with his eldest, though.
These private chats have involved Jonnie assuring Rex that he can ‘do anything’, joking to Hello! that his kids will have a ‘softer upbringing’ with their mum.
